Abstract (EN)

In order to prevent undesirable odors that may occur in shoes due to the usage by person or the materials used in the manufacturing, it is aimed that to give aromatic and antibacterial properties to the leather insole in this study. Spray drying technique was used in the microcapsule manufacturing from formulations that prepared as single and multiple emulsions with different ratios by using orange oil as a core material and chitosan as a shell material. Morphology and size of the microcapsules obtained by spray drying technique was examined by scanning electron microscope. After that, microcapsules were subjected to some tests for determination of encapsulation efficiency. Microcapsules that prepared two main groups as single and multiple emulsions with different ratios were applied by finishing process onto the leathers for shoe insole. Some in vitro quality control studies and microbiological tests were performed on the leathers for shoe insole to determination of the effects of external factors on the shoes produced by this insole in daily use. After performing microbiological tests and delivery studies on the leathers which were subjected to in vitro studies and the leathers which were not subjected to in vitro studies, it has been determined that prepared microcapsules are able to perform core material delivery, also microcapsule application on leather has been successful and these leathers show antibacterial property. Key words: Shoe insole, essential oil, chitosan, microcapsulation, antibacterial shoe, spray drying.
