Art of bookplate in the context of Art Nouveau

In this thesis; the characteristic of Bookplate and Art Nouveau is commentated and the relevant examples are given in the pages. Art Noveau is an crucial decorative pattern which took place in between late 19th century and 20th century among the Europe and the United States. The gracious sinuous drawings and the motives of various plants, animal and the women are the most significant features in this period. In this stage the beauty of the works of art is more important than the story which is told in these works. The Bookplate, is a design which introduce the owner of the book and also is a specific design belonging to the one person. It is known that the oldest exlibris were Made in B.C. 1400 by the king of Egypt Amenhotep III. (Also known As Pharaoh Amenhophis). The Bookplate as picture were appeared in their heyday which is in 19th century and they are also considered as something which can be collected by the people, and the collecting of Bookplate were begun in this era. People had huge interest in collecting these arts, henceforth they published magazines and created communities about Bookplate.
