RESEARCH ON THE EFFECT OF AXLE WEIGHTS ON OVERLOADED VEHICLES ON LIFE OF LOAD (M.Sc. Thesis) SEDA HATİPO?LU GAZİ UNIVERSITY INSTITUTE OF SCIENCE AND TECNHNOLOGY Ocak 1997 ABSTRACT Parallel to the developing industry and economic situation, the number of the travelling trucks have increased in our highways. Some trucks are overloaded in order to reduce the number of vehicles and amaunt of fuel used. In this study, the overloaded trucks have been determined in four different roads and amount of damage in the road resulted from these trucks has been calculated. Then, the effect of this damage on the life of road has been examined. The values gained from research show that the overloaded trucks give damage to our roads and reduce the life of roads, inadequate control of vehicle axle weight leads to these results.
