Assessment of creative imagination

Background : Creativity is needed in any of the professions of life, and by evaluating and being aware of every individual's creativity level. The mission of this research was first to modify a previous test of creativity (TCT-DP Jellen and Urban 1996) and afterward to measure the reliability and validity of our new creativity test, which we called "Assessment of creative imagination". ACI carried out an exploratory study to determine the level of creativity, depending on drawing and creative thoughts. Methods : The study included 104 students from elementary school to the doctorate stage. Creativity was measured using the old TCT-DP and the new ACI creativity test we designed.. The evaluation was done within 14 criteria with a total score of 72. We modified four criteria of TCT-DP; duplication of figure (D.P.) , drawing composition within a frame (DCF), three figures to draw (3FD), and two figures to draw (2FD). Online participation was designed that reached random males and females from Turkey, Saudi Arabia and Egypt by making this test online as google form. Descriptive statistics (mean, frequency, percentage, and percentile ranking) were used for evaluating the data. In our customarily distributed sample, T-test was used to compare the mean of two groups, and correlation was used to describe the linear relationship between two continuous variables. SPSS version 18.0 was used to analyze the data. Results : Percentile ranks means, and standard deviations of the results of ACI and TCT-DP were calculated. The mean ACI-total score was 48.3 out of 72 points (female:48.79±9.89, male:43.35±13.26). Female students were slightly more creative than male students, showing that female students outperformed male students regarding creative potential.
