Abstract (EN)

Alzheimer's disease (AD) is a progressive, irreversible neurodegenerative disease that progressively destroys memory and thinking skills. Where this study included the effect of pollution on alzheimer's disease and some biochemical variables in fuel station workers and alzheimer's patients in the city of Mosul. These variables included: β-secretase, vitamin C, total protein, albumin, liver enzyme GPT, uric acid, glutathione (GSH), malondialdehyde (MDA), cholesterol, lead Pb, catalazo SOD. The study included (150) people, representing three main groups, each group consisting of (50) people Where the first main group included workers at the petroleum station, which in turn was divided into three sub-groups, according to the period of work in those stations. While the second main group included Alzheimer's patients, and the third main group was considered a control group selected from healthy people. These results were consistent with those of previous studies that demonstrated a role for β-secretase in the diagnosis of Alzheimer's disease, By incision of amyloid precursor protein, the formation of Aβ peptides is stimulated that forms amyloid plaques (senescent plaque) outside neurons.
