Abstract (EN)
The main subject of this master thesis is consist of the Ancient Greek and Roman crushing and grinding stones that have been found in the Excavations of Assos in Çanakkale/Ayvacık and also recorded as the survey founds. In this thesis, a total of 121 examples have been studied and compared with the similar material of the close sites. The typology and the distinction of the crushing and grinding stones have been investigated, in the light of history, geographic location, environmental resources, economy and the agricultural production of Assos. Creating the typology of the production devices that mentioned above, explanation of these devices in the terms of function, comparison of their technological features with the similar examples and study of these production technologies, and primarily the identification and cataloging of the existing archaeological material, are the main aims of this thesis.It has been seen that, although all these technologies may show some different features based on the geographical and climatic differences, the main purpose is the same as those have been used on the transformation of the daily life productions. Also some data on the distribution and production of this material on the site map of Assos have been gathered.
