Allergen specific in vitro IgE assays in dogs with atopic dermatitis

Abstract (EN)

In this study, it was aimed to determine the relationship between Polycheck allergy test and i) disease activity, ii) usability, iii) diagnostic value and iv) both in the field and in practice in blood serum in children with atopic dermatitis. The animal material of the study consisted of dogs of both sexes at different ages brought by the history of prediagnosis of atopic dermatitis (itching, alopecia, crusting, dandruff, hyperpigmentation, etc.) to the Small Animal Clinic of Adnan Menderes University, Aydin Province. In group I (n = 28), in group II (n = 15); in group I, dogs with atopic dermatitis according to Favrot criteria, group II. healthy dogs (no atopic dermatitis or any other disease) were included in the study. According to Polycheck allergy test (based on in vitro test results) (mean±standard error) D. pteronyssinus (P = 0.000), D. farinae (P = 0.000), Lepidoglyphus (P = 0.002), birch/alder/hazel (P = 0.012), rye pollen (P = 0.000), grass mix (P = 0.004), plantain (P = 0.001), sorrel (P = 0.049), Acarus siro (P = 0.000), Tyrophagus (P = 0,000), flea (P = 0.000) were specific IgE concentrations, statistically significant differences were found between p values of dogs with atopic dermatitis and healthy dogs. As a result, in dogs diagnosed with atopic dermatitis, desensitization practices, removal of environmental allergens or food contamination and immunostimulation (mucosal immunity) should be performed.
