Abstract (EN)
After the death of Qutb ad-Din Muhammad, his son Atsiz was appointed as Khwarazmshah with the firman of Sultan Sanjar. During the period of his heir to the throne, as a representative of his father, Atsiz went to Merv, to show his respect to Sultan Sanjar in every two years. Atsiz initially acted with full loyality to Sultan Sanjar and participated in many of his campaigns. Atsiz played an important role one of these campaigns; in the campaigns on the Transoxiana and the Seljuk State of Iraq. However, in the Ghaznavid campaign, Atsiz was disturbed by Sultan Sanjar' bad attitude against him. The trust of Atsiz has in his lord, which he tied this attitude to the incitement of his opponents in the court of Merv, was shaken. Atsiz who returned to Khwarazm after the expedition of Ghaznavid, took a direct front against the Sanjar, the Sultans of the Great Seljuk, in the internal and external politcs that he followed. Sultan Sanjar, who realized the change in the politics of Atsiz, defeated Atsiz by his army at Khwarazm because he got hold of important regions like jand and Manghyslaq. Sanjar returned Merv after giving the Khwarazm to his nephew Sulaimansah. Atsiz, who benefited from the absence of Sultan Sanjar, seized Merv again and invaded Bukhara. However, when Sultan Sanjar was prepairing to the battle against Qarakhitai, which threatened the Transoxiana, Atsiz announced that he had obeyed Sultan Sanjar with a sudden decision. Following Sultan Sanjar was defeated by Qarakhitai in the Qatwān Desert, Atsiz rebelled again and invaded Khurasan with the thought of seizing the territories belonging to the Seljuqs. Then Sultan Sanjar headed to Khwarazm for the second time and he took him under his obedience. Where upon Atsiz planned to kill the Sultan Sanjar with an assassination. However, the Sultan Sanjar, who received this information, defeated again Atsiz by launching the third war at Khwarazm. But in the end Atsiz died as a ruler under the Great Seljuk Sultan despite his all independence efforts. Atsiz was a smart, brave, energetic, eager and potent person. Atsiz, who has an inexhaustible energetic power, was a brave commander who succeeded in the battles he attended, a favorite administrator of the people and a clever politician. At the same time, Atsiz was a poet, he had many Persian poems, and there were always poets and litterateur in his councils.
