Abstract (EN)

European Union, which has achieved the integration in many policy areas among its members since its establistment, has been now trying to achieve integration among its members in the field of migration. To that aim, formation of a common EU migration policy was defined as a target. This study aims to elaborate on the on-going attempts for a common EU policy in the light of economic, social and politic differences among member states. The study concludes that economic, social and political differences among member states pose a great challenge for the formation of a common EU policy and member states can easily deviate from the decions taken at the EU level due to the priorities defined at national level. The study composes of three chapters. The first chapther analyses the national migration policies of three selected EU member states, namely France, Britain, Italy and Germany with the aim of demonstrating the national differences. The second chapter aims to look at the development of migration policy at the EU level and the current point arrived. The last chapter of study is devoted to the evaluation of the attempts for forming a common EU migration policy in the consideration of national differences among member states.
