Abstract (EN)
In order for a society to stay together and continue living, decisions have to be taken, justice must be served and therefore a leader is required. In the ancient societies, this leader may be the must intelligent one in the group but by the middle ages with the increased population, monarchy became prevalent and the power became hereditary in families that hold it. The people, wanting their expectations to turn into reality, delegated the power to make political decisions to a monarch. The basic duties of a dynasty is diplomacy, military and internal affairs. Such a system in which one person is responsible to govern and protect their subjects still continues to this day in some countries and in some countries, the system exists more in a symbolic way. Throughout history, people have toppled their rulers many times when they grew disillusioned; the most famous being the French Revolution. In examples such as Roman and Ottoman empires on the remote parts of a country where central government lacks the means to administer directly, power to govern is delegated to influential families that reside there. The main reason is providing justice and welfare and governing is much more effective and easy when done by proxy; the proxy being closer to the area they administer. In this work the existing monarchy sytems and the monarchies which is considered symbolic is analyzed. In the modern times in which the people is expected to obey a parliament and a parliament to obey a symbolic monarch in countries such as the UK, Spain and Sweden, effects on wider Europe is examined.
