Sociological characteristics of lawyers (Economic-social-cultural-symbolic): Diyarbakır case

The subject of this study is "Sociological Characteristics of Lawyers (Economic-Social-Cultural-Symbolic): Diyarbakır Case". This research aims to identify the sociological characteristics of lawyers registered to the Diyarbakır Bar Association and the assumptions made about those who have chosen the law profession as a second profession in recent years and to determine the current situation. The study shows that the biggest influence on lawyers' choice of profession is not their income level, contrary to what was thought at first. It has been observed that they generally reside in secure sites in Diyarbakır. Despite having access to all Bar Association lawyers, it has been observed that especially lawyers who have been practicing law for many years do not show interest in working. It has been observed that business people who are affiliated with the Diyarbakır Bar Association and chose law as their second profession, chose to become a lawyer by taking advantage of its symbolic features to enter politics. It has been observed that lawyers tend to abandon the profession they have chosen over the years because of their respect for the content of the profession, which is respected in the society, and it is a profession that they do not want their children to do. This study about lawyers reveals the sociological characteristics of lawyers registered to the Diyarbakır bar and shows the reasons why the profession of lawyer is preferred by different professional groups.
