Abstract (EN)

Yield and yield components and quality traits of cotton varieties grown in Aydın/Söke, an important cotton production region, were investigated. In the study, Lazer, Armada, Ramses, BA1010, BA911, BA3008, May 455, Bonus, Türkan, Livzara, Fiona and Maya varieties of Gossypium hirsutum L. were used. The study was carried out in Aydın/Söke using a randomized block design with four replications. In the study, cotton boll yield, plant height, boll number, boll weight, first boll opening time, wood branch number, fruit branch number, flowering day duration, the day of first brakte leaf, ginning outturn, fiber length, fiber fineness, fiber strenght were investigated. As a result of the study; Among the 12 cotton varieties, plant height ranged between 89.50 cm and 109.50 cm, the number of monopodial branches measured at 1.5-2.5 number/plant, the number of sympodial branches 10.50-13.50 number/plant, the number of bolls was 13.50-18.75 number/plant, fiber length 30.09-35.02 mm., fiber fineness was 5.07-5.53 mic., fiber strength was 31.06-36.2 g/tex, ginning outturn was 40.95-43.50%, the boll weight was 5.17-5.70 g, the day of first brakte leaf 38.00-42.00, flowering day period was 55.50-62.75 days, first boll opening period was 108.75-116.25 days, and the cotton boll yield was ranged from 532.75 to 686.00 kg/da. As a result of the findings; For the Aydin region, BA 3008 and BA 1010 cotton varieties were found to be suitable for the regional conditions due to their prominent features such as seed yield and boll number.
