Aggression, anger level and associated factors in footballers playing in Aydın Super Amateur League

Objective: The aim of the study is the events related to aggression and anger in the players in Aydın Super Amateur in the 2021-2022 Football Season. Material and Methods: The universe of the research consisted of football players (n=380) playing in 18 teams in 2 different groups in the Aydın Super Amateur League in the 2021- 2022 Football Season. Considering the possible losses, the sample size was determined as 137 by adding 37% and the research was completed with 137 people. Scale applications were made 45 minutes before the training of 18 teams competing in 2 different groups in the Aydın Super Amateur League in the 2021-2022 Football Season. According to the qualitative data obtained from variables such as marital status, education level, parental education level, income level, professional football playing status, position in which football is played, and being punished by the club board of directors and ASKF Amateur Football Disciplinary Committee due to aggression - anger acts. Football players were compared in terms of aggression and anger level. The data obtained from the Aggression and Anger Scale in Sport applications were evaluated in the SPSS 25.0 package program at the 95% confidence interval and at the 0.05 significance level. Results: No significant difference was found between the aggression and anger level of the football players and the age, income, age of starting football, years of playing in the super amateur league, being the team captain, the position in which he played football and the status of seeing a yellow card. In the evaluation of the aggression and anger level and marital status of the football players; In the evaluation of the educational status of the parents, with the exception of university, as the education level increases; those who do not play professional football; those who play more football teams; It was observed that those who received more than 3 red cards had higher levels of aggression and anger. In the evaluation of the anger level and educational status of the participants, it was seen that the anger level was lower in those whose education level was at the primary school level. Conclusion: As a result of the evaluation of the aggression and anger averages of the football players, it was determined that the anger level was higher than the aggression level. It is thought that the athletes whose anger and aggression levels return to normal will thus be beneficial primarily to themselves, then to their teams, and to the country's sport in general.
