Abstract (EN)

Ayfer Tunç, one of the important writers of contemporary Turkish literature, has written works in different literary genres. Although the author, who has reached a wide readership, has attracted attention with her novels in recent years, she first stepped into the literary career with her stories. Ayfer Tunç argues that a good story should be combined with a solid fiction in a qualified literary work, and she writes her own works with the same understanding. Through the characters she creates in her novels, Tunç illuminates the societal issues and conditions of contemporary Turkey while delving deeply into the psychological landscapes of these characters, often tracing their psyches back to childhood traumas. Consequently, themes of loneliness, despair, and reckoning with the past frequently emerge in her novels. This thesis examines the fictional characters in Ayfer Tunç's novels Kapak Kızı, Yeşil Peri Gecesi and Osman, which Tunç refers to as a trilogy, though she notes they can also be read independently. The analysis reveals that these characters align with narcissistic pathology, making them suitable subjects for such scrutiny. The characters are analyzed through the theoretical frameworks developed by psychoanalysts such as Sigmund Freud, Heinz Kohut, and Otto Kernberg. This study, titled "Analysıs of Narcissistic Elements in Ayfer Tunç's Novels Kapak Kızı, Yeşil Peri Gecesi and Osman" aims to contribute to the fields of psychoanalysis and literary studies. Keywords: Ayfer Tunç, Narcissistic Theory, Kapak Kızı , Yeşil Peri Gecesi, Osman
