Abstract (EN)
The importance of including building insulation when calculating heating and cooling loads cannot be emphasized enough. Based on the reasons mentioned above, incorporating these elements in specific architectural instances in Konya and Baghdad provides various methods to ensure the building's thermal conditions are protected. Numerous experiments have been conducted to determine the most effective values for variables such as insulation material thickness, window-to-wall ratio, and glass thickness. These experiments aim to improve building performance. The experiments were conducted using the Revit, Ecotect, and Hap software applications. Both the Konya and Baghdad regions employed the same building design. The energy loads have been calculated using three software applications and then verified against the Izoder TS-825, which is the recognized benchmark in Turkey. The decision was made by taking into account the approximate success rate of 97% that was obtained from verifications carried out on the implementation of the Ecotect program. The Ecotect program was used to analyze the parameters of insulation material thickness, window-to-wall ratio, and glass thickness in the provinces of Konya and Baghdad. According to the research findings, it is recommended that a thickness of 11 cm for insulation is the optimal choice for the province of Konya. Any thickness that exceeds this threshold would not be optimal in terms of energy consumption and the costs associated with it. Analogous analyses were conducted for the Baghdad province, which led to the determination of an optimal thickness of 11 cm. The analysis of window-to-wall ratios shows that the city of Konya has the highest ratio at 75%, while in Baghdad, the ratio is observed to be 50%. In the context of calculating glass thickness, it has been determined that the preferred thickness in the city of Konya is 8 mm, while in Baghdad, the calculated thickness is 2 mm.
