Abstract (EN)
This research aims to examinethe elements of values education in three novels by Ayşe Kulin, one of the most prominent authors in Turkish literature, written approximately ten years apart: "Turn Your Face to the Sun" (1984), "Wider Times" (1998), and "Once Upon a Time" (2006). This study, conducted using a qualitative screening model, applies document analysis and descriptive analysis methods. As a data collection tool, the core values (justice, friendship, honesty, patience, love, respect, responsibility, self-discipline, patriotism, benevolence) emphasized in the Turkish National Education System since 2005 and officially included with the publication of the statement titled "On Our Curriculum Renewaland Change Efforts" by the Board of Educationand Discipline in 2017 were used. After these core values in the National Education System were determined as the data collection tool, the selected works of Ayşe Kulin, one of the key figures in Turkish literature, were analyzed through document examination, one of the qualitative research methods, and data was collected from these books. The collected data were analyzed using the descriptive analysis method. According to the finding sobtained from this analysis, in terms of the intensity of the core values in the Turkish National Education System, the order of the books is as follows: "Once Upon a Time" (65), "Wider Times" (36), and "Turn Your Face to the Sun" (34). Regarding the core values examined, it was determined that the most frequently used core values were love (38) and responsibility (20). The results of this study show that Ayşe Kulin's Works are a rich resource in terms of the core values established by the Ministry of National Education in 2017.
