Abstract (EN)

The aim of our study is to determine the relationship between tuberculosis disease (TB) and cytomegalovirus (CMV). Other studies investigated the same correlation and prevalence of tuberculosis diseases in Baghdad. Positive cases for tuberculosis were screened and positive results for CMV IgG and IgM were found. Using a special strip, it was found that in the 100 positive TB cases, 62 had positive results for CMV IgG (62%) and 16 had positive IgM (16%). Regarding the control group, 17 were IgG positive (17%) and only 5 were IgM positive (5%). By an ELISA KIT, we investigated 100 positive TB cases, 65 cases with positive CMV IgG results (65%), and 17 cases with positive IgM (17%). In the control group, there were 18 people with positive IgG antibodies (18%) and only 6 with IgM-positive cases (6%). The results showed that there is a significant difference (p< 0.001) between tuberculosis patients and control cases. The best procedure for the detection (of TB) was Ziehl Neelsen (ZN) and Auramine O (AO) technology. 315 sputum samples were collected randomly from suspected TB patients. The results showed that direct ZN stain-positive cases equaled 50/315. The number of positive AO tests is 72/315. The sensitivity for AO was 65%, and the sensitivity for ZN was 54%. So it is better to use the AO method. The determination of the resistance of drugs to TB disease (GenoType MTBDRsI) is the best method to describe resistant gene therapies for drugs such as moxifloxacin and amikacin.
