Abstract (EN)

In this study, firstly, the religious beliefs of the Kyrgyz, one of the most ancient Turkish communities in Central Asia, before Islam are discussed. Then, the spread of heavenly and non-celestial religions among the Turks, who are tolerant of all religions, was emphasized. In Kyrgyzstan, which gained independence with the collapse of the Soviet Union, the activities of non-Muslim missionary groups, their understanding of the messiah and the holy book, and their methods have been the main subject of investigation. Although missionaries used traditional methods in the early periods, they worked in a more disciplined and programmed manner in the future. Missionary groups, which turned geographical discoveries and colonialism activities into opportunities, put their missions into practice in every geography they set foot on. They adapted to the geographies they visited in a short time, taking into account the material, spiritual and cultural conditions of the places they visited. Even though they had different practices depending on time and place, the aims of the missionaries were always the same. Independent Kyrgyzstan, which was established with the collapse of the Soviet Union, exhibited a libertarian attitude that adopted democracy in its administration, whetted the appetite of missionary groups, and this allowed them to quickly organize within the country. The fact that the people do not have sufficient knowledge in the field of religion, which is one of the most desired elements of these groups, and economic difficulties have accelerated their organization. This situation attracted the attention of the state, and many of them were banned, their activities were restricted or attempts were made to prevent them through bureaucracy. However, those who follow official procedures still continue their activities and receive great support from western states.
