Turkish-Islamic peri̇od tombstones on the Islands of Marmara and Paşali̇mani in Balikesi̇r region

Balıkesir, which has the staus of transition between Marmara and Aegean regions in Western Anatolia, has been chosen as a settlement since the first ages of history due to suitable climate and natural conditions. Balıkesir, where the oldest traces of culture were traced back to the Old Bronze Age, were an important settlement in the Ottoman period. The tombstones on the islands of Pasalimanı, which are connected to the marmara and Erdek districts of Balıkesir province, are seen as historical documents. The tombstones, which are in the form of a document, are discussed in terms of art history in order to fill the scientific gap. To cemetery sites locaited in Marmara district center, a total of 76 graves in the cemetery areas of Pasalimanı and Poyrazlı villages in the Pasalimanı island were exemined and detailed descriptions of these were made. The pohotographs and drawings of each tombstone and detailet measurements are addet to catalog section, and scientific compresion was made with gravestones of the Seljuk and Ottoman period in the Anatolian geography. The contents of the graves, which are all grave eart graves, were revealed and analyzed. As a result of these studies, it was seen that the İslamic Period Tombs on the Marmara and Pasalimanı Islands were significently similar to the tomsstones of the Turkish-Islamic period in Anatolia, however, the tombstones of Marmara and Pasalimanı İslands were found to be quite infertile
