Abstract (EN)
The pressure ulcers and tissue necrosis that may occur in hospitalized patients significantly reduce their comfort of life and may even lead to dangerous consequences for their lives. In this study, a smart model mattress prototype was developed to prevent the formation of pressure sores that may occur in hospitalized patients. In this designed smart bed prototype, in the first stage, the stationary areas of the patient's body in contact with the bed are determined by mapping the pressure distribution over the unit contact surface area in the patient-bed system using weight sensing sensors (load cell). In the second stage, in line with the information received from the relevant surface area, stimulating electrical impulse signal application with certain shapes and parameters is applied to the surface. The proposed prototype system is a new system that is suitable for remote monitoring, and it allows to evaluate the instant position of the patient and to ensure the continuation of normal tissue activity by using appropriate stimulating electrical current signals as a preventive treatment as needed. It is thought that this study will also lead to future research on these issues.
