Abstract (EN)

Personal information, general states of health, lifestyle habits and basic nutrition habits of the individuals were inquired with questionnaire form. Nutritional status and fluid intakes of the individuals were determined by using food consumption record form and beverage consumption record forms. The mean age of the individuals participated in the study is 28.75±6.96. The mean BMI were determined to be 22.16±3.53 kg/m2. While frequency of being thin among women is significantly higher compared to the men, frequency of being overweight among men is significantly higher compared to the women (p<0.05). The frequency of regular participation in physical activity among men participated in the study (61.1%) was found to be statistically significantly higher compared to the women (26.8%) (p: 0.012; p<0.05). Average daily energy consumption of the individuals with diet for women is 1722.8±304.47 kcal and 1657.41±208.19 in men. The percentage of diet energy coming from carbonhydrat, protein and fat were found %48.06±4, %14.70±1.52 and %36.37±3.47 in women respectively. However in men %47.78±4.29, 15.33±1.33 and %36.22±2.88. Average energy intake of the individuals coming from sugary and sweetened beverages with daily nutrition was found to be 250.42±154.21 kcal in women and 261.55±199.58 kcal in men. It was determined that 3% of the participants consumed coke 3-5 times in a day, 5% of them consumed lemonade 3-5 times in a day, 3% of them consumed carbonated beverages other than coke 1-2 times in a day, 6% of them consumed uncarbonated beverages1-2 times in a day, %9 of them consumed fruit soda water and 5% of them consumed energy drink 1-2 times in a week. There is no statistically significant difference between average energy intake of the individuals with beverage consumption according to body mass index (p>0.05). Increase in consumption of sugary and sweetened beverage shows parallelism with increased obesity epidemic in the last 30 years. Increasing number of studies in this field will shed light on the relationship between energy intake with consumption of sugary and sweetened beverages and obesity.
