Abstract (EN)

The Western Black Sea and Thrace Basins located on the Alpine-Himalayan Belt are one of the most active tectonic belts in the world. These two basins, which are adjacent to each other, also contain volcanic products related to the subduction, joining from the north to the Anatolian plate, which was squeezed between the Laurasian Plate and the Gondwana-African Plate with increasingly compressed for the last 30 million years, disintegrated and tried to escape by creeping towards the west prove as evidence of this tectonic evolution. The subject of this thesis is the facies architectures of the sedimentary sequences that developed in the Western Black Sea and Thrace Basins as a result of the "Neo-Tectonic" events, in which the segments of the NAF System continuing towards NW from the Upper Miocene-Pliocene, and their evolution from the Pliocene to the Recent. In this process, the change in the interaction between the sedimentation rate and tectonism in the region over time determined the Paleogeography of the region. Sedimentary systems in the Western Black Sea Basin were modeled by interpreting three-dimensional (3D) seismic datasets with an area of approximately 3700 km square. The sequence in this basin is represented by sedimentary systems deposited in terrestrial-shallow water-shelf-slope-abyssal plain environments, fed from the source area generally in the south-southwest. Sedimentary systems interpreted using "Seismic Characteristics and Geometries" on this dataset were generally interpreted as alluvial, fluvial, fan delta, shore zon facies, barrier sands, mass transport complexes, distribution channels, channel/canyons, intra-canyon channels, sediment waves and hemipelagic sediments. Detailed Measured Column Sections (MCS's) were measured at 46 locations in the Thrace Basin. Thus, lateral/spatial correlations of the sedimentary systems in the Thrace basin were made both within themselves and with each other, as well as the time-dependent correlation of the terrestrial representatives of the above-mentioned marine sequences. Geochemical samples were compiled from specific locations throughout the Thrace Basin. Thus, analytical data reflecting the geochemical characteristics of the sediments filling the basin have strengthened the stratigraphic/sedimentological data and more holistic interpretations have been produced, especially on the recharge aspects of the basin. As a result, in order to reveal the Pliocene-Quaternary Paleogeographic Model of the Western Black Sea and Thrace Basin, all geophysical, geological and geochemical data produced in this region were harmoniously integrated with each other, obtained all data were integrated and interpreted together, and ultimately Paleogeographic Maps of the Region have been proposed.
