Abstract (EN)

The sources written about Timur are separated into two main categories. These are the official sources which are written by order of Timur or his successors and the sources which are written by the writers who were aligned with those states that has been defeated by Timur. These works are consistent with each other in terms of knowledge. However, the interpretations of Timur by the authors are inconsistent. The conflicting comments in the primary sources of the era of Timur led both indigenous and foreigner researchers to obtain different points of views. We designated ten Western sources which thoroughly discuss the life of Timur for our article topic titled "The Life of Timur According to The Western Historians". We aimed at revealing the perception of Timur in Western world according to these works. We evaluated the approaches of Western sources in using, understanding and interpreting primary sources by comparing them with each other. We also compared the perception of Timur in the works of indigenous researchers in this perspective. We pointed out the overlapping and differentiating aspects of both primary sources and the works of indigenous researchers with the works of Western researchers.
