Abstract (EN)
The concept of urban transformation is the redesign of settlements based on the needs of the area undergoing transformation, encompassing numerous parameters both socially and technically, with a priority on disaster risk where applicable. In this study, the need for urban transformation in the İluh Stream and its surrounding area in the central Provşnce of Batman City is discussed based on factors such as disaster risk (flood), as well as the need for green areas, parking lots, and infrastructure deficiencies required by urban settlements. Within this scope, factors such as population density, status of properties (plots, buildings, and attachments), road transportation network, zoning status, etc., were compiled to create a database and mapped for spatial analysis. Furthermore, ten boreholes, each with a depth of 20 meters, were drilled in the region, and the analysis of sample test results was conducted to determine whether the area is suitable for construction. The concept of urban transformation has been expressed, emphasizing the diversity of applications within the legal bases. Netcad 7.6 GIS and Netcad 8.0 GIS software were utilized for spatial analysis, while Microsoft Access and Excel programs were used to create the database, obtaining a local Geographic Information System (GIS) for the region. Additionally, following the implementation project for the region, work has been carried out on the Lumion software to obtain three-dimensional visuals of possible interventions. In the central Province of Batman City, it has been determined that İluh Stream poses a flood risk, experienced a disaster in 2006, divided the city into north and south, causing the north to continue developing while the south remained stagnant. As a result of drilling experiments, it was concluded that the loose ground ends at 6.5 meters and corresponds to the foundational ground for construction. Based on these findings, three alternative urban transformation applications have been proposed.
