Abstract (EN)

Objective: Currently, there is controversy about the possible effects of Di-2-ethylhexylphthalate (DEHP) and Bisphenol A (BPA). The aim of our study was to investigate the effects of DEHP and BPA exposure on apoptosis and inflammation in zebrafish embryos. We also aimed to determine the effects of DEHP and BPA exposure on the expression of crestin molecule, which is important for embryonic development. Materials and Methods: In our study, zebrafish embryos were exposed to the concentrations below the lethal dose determined in our previous studies were used in zebrafish embryos and expressions of apoptosis and inflammation related genes were evaluated by RT-PCR method, and crestin expression was determined by in situ hybridization method. Results: BFA and DEHP exposure increased bax and casp8 expressions in zebrafish embryos compared with the control group; but decreased the expressions of casp3a, ifng1 and fas. Compared to the control group, tp53 expression increased in BPA and decreased in DEHP group. The embryos that were exposed to DEHP had decreased expressions of bax, casp3a, casp8, fas, ifng1 and tp53 compared to those exposed to BPA. Crestin expressions were not affected significantly in BPA and DEHP exposed groups. Conclusion: As a result of our study, it was shown that BPA and DEHP exposure caused alterations in the mechanisms involved in apoptosis and inflammation in zebrafish embryos.
