An Taxonomical study on some Lamiaceae (Labiatae) species

AN TAXONOMICAL STUDY ON SOME LAMIACEAE {LABIATAE] SPECIES Prep.: Arş.Grv. Kamuran AKTAŞ Advisor: Yrd.Doç.Dr. Kemal YILDIZ Institute: C.B.U. Institute of Natural and Applied Sciences, Master of Science Thesis in Biology ABSTRACT: This study is based on morphological and palynological investigations of 19 species belonging to 15 genera collected from Manisa province in 1999-2000 years. These species are Teucrium chamaedrys L. subsp. lydlum O. Schwarz, Phlomls samia L., Lamium amplexicaule L, Ballota acetabulosa (L.) Bentham, Marrubium vulgare L, Stachys oretlca L. subsp. anatolloa Rech., Melissa officinalis L subsp. altlsslma (Sm.) Arcangeli, Satureja thymbra L, Aolnos rotundifollus Pers., Mioromeria myrtlfolla Bolss. & Hohen., Micromeria Juliana (L.) Bentham ex Reichb., Thymus zyglofdes Griseb. var. lycaonlous (Ceiak.) Ronniger, Thymbra splcata L var. splcata, Mentha puleglum L, Mentha longifolia subsp. typholdes var. typholdes, Mentha splcata L subsp. spicata, Zlziphora taunca Bieb. subsp. taurica, Salvia vlrgata Jacq. ve Salvia verbenaca L. Two of studying species, Stachys cretica L subsp. anatollca Rech., Thymus zygioides Griseb. var. lycaonlcus (Celak.) Ronniger are endemic for Turkey. In morphological investigation, species of Lamiaceae are demonstrated by illustrations as drawing of descriptions, features of flowers also general apperances. On the other hand in palynological investigation, pollen morphology of Lamiaceae species has been determinated using light microscopy (with oil immersion) and each of studying species polar and equatorial apperances were taken and added to thesis. As a result, in this palynological investigation according to colpus number of Lamiaceae species are tricolpate and hekzacolpate; pollen shape prolate, subprolate, spheroidal; structure tectate; sculpture verrucate, echinate-perforate- suprareticulate-reticulate. It is clearly depictid that identifications of Ballota, Marrubium and Stachys taxon conflicting with Flora of Turkey (Davis, 1982) as level of genera and species determination.
