Abstract (EN)

This sudy was made in F1 generation obtained by crossing different upland cotton genotypes to assess the extent of heterosis and determine the correlations for seed cotton yield and its related attributes traits at Doğu Akdeniz Agricultural Research Institute in 2012. Flash, Sicala 33, Flora and Deltapine 50 cultivars, their F1 generation and the standard check of SG-125 were evaluated in a randomized block design, replicated thrice. Heterotic effects of F1 crosses and the correlations of all characters studied were computed. The highest heterotic effect were recorded in the hybrid Flash x Sicala 33 for number of open bolls per plant ( 37 %), earliness ratio ( 38%); in the hybrid of Flash x Flora for boll weight (30 %), seedcotton weight per boll (30 %) and 100 seed weight (19 %) and in the hybrid of Flash x DP 50 for ginning turnout (8 %). Significant positive correlations (r) on seedcotton yield were observed for seedcotton yield per plant, and fiber fineness. Significant and negative association between number of fruiting branches per plant, lint uniformity, fiber fineness and maturity ratio.
