Abstract (EN)

This study was conducted in the research fields of Field Crops Department of Agriculture Faculty, Ege University, Bornova/Izmir during 2014-2016 years. Some commercial and widely used warm season turf grasses (Cynodon dactylon, Cynodon dactylon x Cynodon transvaalensis) and newly introduced turf grasses (Paspalum vaginatum ve Zoysia japonica) were chosen as crop material in this research study and to search on the effect of overseeding techniques imposed in different dates (15 September, 30 September, 15 October ve 30 October) on the these selected warm season turfgrasses during autumn season were targeted. For this purpose, dormancy period (days), germination rates (days), cover speed (days), fall transition (1-9 scores), spring transition (1-9 scores), turf texture (mm), cover rate (1-9 scores), weed invasion (1-9 scores), turf color (1-9 scores), visual turf quality (1-9 scores) were tested in addition to ball rebound (cm), force reduction/shock absorption (%) and vertical deformation (mm) peculiarities as playing quality characteristics. Results obtained from the investigation displayed that Lolium perenne L. could be used successfully to mitigate the problematic faces of warm season turf grasses durig their dormancy period in Mediterrenean climatic ecologies and revealed that the suggestion for most ideal overseeding time was 15 October. Data also showed that all warm season turf grasses were provided proper playing grounds with available standard limits in terms of playing quality.
