Determination of relationship between cane quality and bud fertility for some kind table grapes

This research has been carried out for 2 years in 2009 and 2010 in order to determine relationship between cane and bud fertility for some kind of table grapes grown in Canakkale location such as Cardinal, Italia, Yalova Çekirdeksizi and Yalova İncisi. The subjects of this thesis, stated as below, are conducted in COMU Table Grape Varieties Research Campus in Dardanos yard; Number of bunches, width of first bunch, length of first bunch, width of second bunch, length of second bunch, length between nodes (1.?4., 5.?8., 9.?12. and 13.?16.), bud width, bud lenght, cane width between nodes, pith between nodes, bark+phloem between nodes, xylem between nodes, cane width/pith, bark+phloem/pith, xylem/pith and xylem+(bark+phloem)/pith all parameters were examined. Also correlation values has been determined between examined parameters. Parameters were found with positive effect by p<0,01 between cane width/pith, xylem/pith, xylem+(bark+phloem)/pith and number of bunch in Cardinal, Yalova Çekirdeksizi and Yalova İncisi. Positive correlation by p<0,01 between cane width and cane width/pith was found in the same grape types. Positive correlation by p<0,01 between cane width/pith and bark+phloem/pith, xylem/pith, xylem+(bark+phloem)/pith was stated in the all examined grape types. This study showed that bud fertility changes depends on cane lignification. In this study was considered beneficial affect that Italia grape type was pruned as a short above the 2. bud, Cardinal and Yalova İncisi grape types were pruned as a short above the 2. or 3. buds and Yalova Çekirdeksizi grape type was pruned as a medium lenght above the 3. or 5. buds. Considering between lignification and size of buds, in order to supply grafting material the best ideal lenght between nodes were found in Cardinal grape type 5.?12. nodes, in Yalova İncisi grape type 5.?8. nodes, in İtalia grape type 5.?16. nodes and in Yalova Çekirdeksizi grape type 9.?16. nodes. However this values can be hold wide distance by adding one more node from bottom and top nodes in particular years which grafting material supply is very difficult to obtain.
