Abstract (EN)

This study was carried out between July and October of2017 and evaluated the effects of wastewater and treated wastewater applications on the product and product quality in pickling cucumber (Cucumis sativus), (Artist F1, Atik F1, Titanic F1) and the heavy metal residue in plants in order to determine the amount. In our study, as a source of irrigation; freshwater, wastewater and treated wastewater were used. After harvest, phenological observations, growth criteria, yield, and general quality analysis, heavy metal quantities ((Chrome (Cr), Nickel (Ni), Copper (Cu), Cadmium (Cd), Lead (Pb))were determined. When the general analysis results are examined; The total yield value, which is an important parameter, was found to be %40,90 and %81,23 in wastewater application in Atik F1 and Titanic F1 types in wastewater application and %48,32 in treated wastewater application in Artist F1. When the data obtained at the end of the study were examined, it was found that Cr and Ni contents were higher in the root and leaf parts of the plants which were applied in the freshwater. Cu gave similar values in terms of applications in the root, but less amount in wastewater applications except leaf Titanic F1. The contents of the Cd gave similar values to each other in root and leaf components and not in plant fruits. Pb content in the root part, except for the application of water in the other side of the plant and the leaves yielded similar results in the fruit of the plant only in the treatment of Artist F1was observed in treated wastewater application. It was found that heavy metal accumulation was highest in leaves in all three varieties, no heavy metals were found in the fruits and that the other heavy metals other than Ni did not exceed the limit values given by Turkish Food Codex. As a result, it is envisaged that treated and wastewater can be used in a controlled manner. However, the characteristics of wastewater; controlled and controlled use of wastewater is important for irrigation applications as it may vary according to the treatment status, source and seasons.
