The investigation of vocational socialization levels and organizational commitment of physical education teachers

The study, based on the basic hypothesis that the levels of vocational socialization and organizational commitment of teachers in Elazıg Province differ in terms of various variables (gender, age, marital status, vocational seniority, school seniority), excluded 256 of 306 physical education teachers working in Elazıg. The data form created to achieve the purpose of the work consists of three parts. Six questions were asked by the researcher to determine demographic information. The original of the "organizational commitment" scale, which provides the test of the basic hypothesis of the study, belongs to Rich, Lepine and Crawford (2010). Validity and reliability (0.94) analyses were carried out by the 18-point five likert (1), disagree (2), undecided (3), agree (4), completely agree (5) scale adapted to Turkish by Kurtpınar (2011). In the third part, a scale was developed by Özbek and Ercan (2014) to determine the level of vocational socialization of physical education teachers. Cronbach-alpha coefficient, (0.84) was found. For physical education teachers, there were 13 items in the occupational socialization scale, 13 items in the job satisfaction dimension, 6 items in the motivation dimension, 7 items in the commitment dimension and 31 items in the acceptance dimension. Organizational commitment ( =76.91), occupational socialization ( = 124.61) and the mean scores of the teachers of physical education were higher than the mean scores of the teachers of Physical Education. As a result, the differences in gender, marital status and educational status in Elazıg were not considered statistically significant when the vocational socialization and organizational commitment of physical education teachers were investigated. As the age, vocational seniority and seniority in the school increased, the levels of vocational socialization and organizational commitment increased. As the occupational socialization of the physical education teachers participating in the study increased, their devotion to the organization (dedication) increased. Necessary measures should be taken to increase professional socialization. Measures to be taken will increase organizational commitment.
