Examination of physical education and sport teachers' attitudes towards silent resignation (Erzurum province example)

Purpose: In this study, it is aimed to examine the silent resignation attitudes of individuals working as Physical Education Teachers according to various variables. Materials and Methods: The population of the research consists of physical education teachers working in primary and secondary schools. The sample consists of a total of 151 physical education teachers, 86 of whom are men and 65 of whom are women, working in Erzurum. Data was collected online via Google forms. The "Silent Resignation Attitude Scale" developed by Karaşın and Öztırak (2023) was used for the participants. Silent resignation attitude scale; It consists of three parts: personal opinion, positive attitude and mobbing perception. Shapiro-Wilk test was performed to determine whether the distributions were normal according to the answers given by the participants. Since p<0.05, non-parametric tests were used to test the hypotheses. Mann-Whitney U test was performed for variables with two values. For three or more variables, the Kruskal-Wallis test was applied. Latent profile analysis was conducted according to sub-dimensions to look at the distribution of participants into sub-groups. All statistical analyzes were performed with the Jamovi (2.6.2) program. Findings: As a result of the analysis, the silent resignation attitude level of physical education teachers working in Erzurum; It reveals that there is no significant difference between gender, education level and age and tenure. Generally speaking, it can be seen that the silent resignation attitudes of physical education teachers working in Erzurum are at a low level. Conclusion: According to the results of the research, it is observed that single teachers working in Erzurum have a higher tendency to silently resign than married teachers.
