Determining and comparing problem solving abilities and personalities of students of department of psysical education and sports in terms of some parameters: A Case of Gazi Üniversity and Ahi Evran Üniversity

The aim of this survey is; to identify the characteristics of students? studying Department of Physical Education and Sport Teacher Students of Ahi Evran University and Gazi University through problem solving test and to specify whether students differentiate according to independent variables obtained from personal variables and to reveal relation between students? ability of problem solving and their characteristics.Totally, 328 students, 181 of whom were selected randomly among the students studying in Department of Physical Education and Sport Teacher Students of Ahi Evran University located in Kırşehir and 147 of whom were selected via same method among the students studying in Department of Physical Education and Sport Teacher Students of Gazi University in Ankara, voluntarily participated in this survey. In this survey, Personal Data Form, Problem Solving Inventory (PSI- A) and Edwards Personal Preference Inventory (EPPS) were used as a means of data collection.As a result; this survey proves that the points that Physical Education and Sport Department students received from Problem Solving Inventory (PSI- A) differentiate according to; university, sex, class, grade, individual major, parents? education status and university variables of national and high degree sportsmen. At the same time, it reveals the points that the students got from Edwards Personal Preference Inventory (EPPS) differentiate according to; university, sex, class, grade, individual major, parents? education status and the university variables of national and high degree sportsmen. In addition to this, the correlation of the results between inventories points out that positive personal characteristic affects students? ability of problem solving in a positive way.Key Words: Problem solving ability, personality and sportsman
