Biopolicy and population policies in the magazine on body and sports

Population is the most important human capital of states. Definite fluctuations in population cause states to be shaken economically, politically and militarily. During the period between the two world wars, many studies were carried out to increase the quantity and quality of the population in Europe. "Biopolitics", which can be defined as the shaping of the population by the state, found a wide application area in this period. Biopolitics has brought with it eugenic practices based on which way the population will be increased. Positive and negative eugenic practices were preferred according to the political, economic and military expectations of the states. The First World War and the National Struggle after it brought along a significant population loss in Turkey. At first, efforts were made to increase the population in quantity, but the political developments in the world caused measures to be taken to increase the quantity and the qualified population in Turkey. The "Physical Training and Sports" law enacted in this direction has been the area where the emphasis on qualified population is most evident. The female body needed to increase the population began to be shaped through the "Body Training and Sports Journal", which started to be published in accordance with both the law and the law.
