Abstract (EN)

The aim of this study is to examine the mediator role of individuals in the relationship between body attitude and social media consciousness related to appearance, in the cognitive distortions. In this direction, the differentiation status of demographic variables in body attitude, social media consciousness related to appearance and thought characteristics are examined. In this study, sociodemographic information form, body attitude scale, appearance-related social media consciousness scale related to appearance and cognitive distortions scale were applied to 401 participants aged between 18-65 from Turkey. The research was conducted in the relational screening model. The data were analyzed with the SPSS 21 program. According to the findings obtained as a result of the research, it was found that body attitude was a predictor of social media consciousness related to appearence, cognitive distortions were a predictor of social media awareness related to apperance and cognitive distortions had a mediating role in the relationship between body attitude and social media consciousness related to appearance. In the light of the findings, the variables were discussed with the studies in literature and suggestions were presented.
