Abstract (EN)
Tomato is a valuable vegetable in Turkey, because of its production area, yield and commercial value. The most significant factors that restrict tomato cultivation are the viruses. Among them the Tomato Yellow Leaf Curl Virus (TYLCV) is the most important one. Methods to control the vectors of this virus, such as cultural practices (the use of pathogen free seedlings, crop rotation, soil disinfection etc.) and chemicals are mostly inadequate. These problems have led to the use of genetically controlled resistances as an alternative technique of disease control. Accordingly, we aimed to find the genes which confers to resistance Tomato Yellow Leaf Curl Virus in beef type tomato lines in this study. Pure-breeding beef type tomato lines were obtained from AD-ROSSEN Seed Company were screened for the genes Ty-1 and Ty-3a which provide resistance to TYLCV. Out of 40 beef type tomato genotypes, we detected 8 resistance genotypes (RR/Rr) and 32 susceptible genotypes by using JB-1 marker (related with Ty-1 gene); 4 homozygous resistance genotypes (RR), 4 heterozygous resistance genotypes and 32 susceptible genotpyes by using P6-25 marker (related with Ty-3a gene). In addition to molecular studies, 27 phenotypic characters were evaluated which were determinated by UPOV (International Union for The Protection of New Varieties of Plant) in tomato lines. Results of data were obtained for correlation analysis. According to our findings, yield and resistance (detected by JB-1 and P6-25 markers) were negatively correlated (p<0.05). In light of this information, genotypes which have resistance genes have lower yield. Furthermore, Ty-1 and Ty-3a genes were positively correlated (p≤0.01). As a result of this study, the genotypes which have the homozygous resistance or heterozygous resistance genes. And also these genotypes which classified to gene pool, might be used for the future studies of resistant hybrids.
