Stratigraphy of Belenköy (Feke) and Horzum (Kozan) area, and correlative study of the paleozoic sequences in the Eastern and Central Taurides

With this study, it is aimed to reveal the geological and stratigraphical features of the region in the western part of the Eastern Taurus Mountains, by making a detailed geological map with a scale of 1/25 000, and to correlate the Paleozoic sequences in the Eastern and Central Taurus Mountains of the Paleozoic sequences. Allochthonous units in the study area are represented by (i) the Late Cretaceous age Horzum Tectonic Melange, which includes blocks and tectonic slices of different ages and types, comprising metadiabase, metagabro and acidic rock (granite) blocks; (ii) Görbiyes Dağı unit, which contains Precambrian-Silurian aged units and shows low-grade metamorphism; and the (iii) Geyikdağı Unit, which consists of Precambrian-Late Cretaceous aged shallow marine clastic and carbonate rocks. These allochthonous blocks are in themselves significantly folded and imbricated with low angle thrusts. Cenozoic sediments that overlie the basement units with angular unconformity are distinguished as Kozan-Feke (Adana) Basin. It has been determined that the Paleozoic sequences in the study area are largely present similarity to the Paleozoic sequences in the Central and Eastern Taurus belt. In the region, it was determined that the presence of horizontal movements that were active at the end of Late Cretaceous, Lutetian and late Miocene were overlain by the Paleozoic and Mesozoic units of the Miocene units by tectonic contact.
