Documentary film and kinds

Genre studies give detailed information on subject field. Historical development of the genres are defined in these studies and at the same time the relationship between the community and audiences who perceive the type text are put forward, too. Genre studies can be divided into two main group as fictitious and non- fictitious. In the field of fictitious films genre studies, many of literature are available. In these studies, changes in film language are discussed. And also, the neccesity of multi-disicipliner evluation appears. Because, evaluation of genre studies must be included interaction with history, society and psychology. There are no any determined classifications in genre studies. For this reason, every researcher classify genres under the aim of his study. These classifications create variations. Researcher must determine different characteristics in process of classification. By using these characteristics, different examples are given under umbrella of classification. On the other hand, without examining films, it is impossible to define characteristics. Same difficulties are valid for documentary genre studies as well. In addition, additional difficulties arises from nature of documentary. Main difficulty is discussions on thedefinition of documentary. Because documentary includes many different fields and transparent borders with other fictitious productions. Classification of documentary is usefull considering historical changes, different characteristics and changes in film languages of documentary. There are some discrepancy regarding documentary genre due to insufficient studies on genre of documentary in literature. This research is done to fill discrepancies in field of documentary and to make clear understanding of studies on documentaries by giving characteristics of documentary. There is a need to these type of researches to make clear the point that present documentary came and to evaluate film language. In this research, different documentary films are used to prove informations received genre studies of different theoreticians.
