Abstract (EN)
The aim of this study is to investigate whether compatible or incompatible perfectionism, forgiveness, age and gender is significantly predicted the self-compassion levels of individuals in emerging adulthood by using the relational screening model. The content of the research consists of individuals who are in the "emerging adulthood period". By using the easily accessible exemplification method, the researchers are reached through the "Google Forms." The samples consisted of 534 people (420 women, 114 men) aged 18-29 years. As data collection tools, "APS Perfectionism Scale", "Self-Compassion Scale", "Forgiveness Scale," and "Personal İnformation Form" which is created by the researchers were used. The relationship between perfectionism, forgiveness, and demographic. characteristics (like age and gender) and self-compassion was analyzed by using the Pearson correlation coefficient. With the multiple linear regression analysis, the predictive level of self-compassion, compatible or incompatible perfectionism, forgiveness, age and gender was determined. All datas were analyzed by using the SPSS 22 program and was accepted at the p<,05 level. According to the correlation results, there was a positive significant relationship between the self-compassion levels and forgiveness levels of emerging adults, and their age and a negative significant relationship was found between incompatible perfectionism levels. According to the results of multiple linear regression analysis, forgiveness, compatible or incompatible perfectionism, and demographic variables (like age and gender) explain %29,2 of adults self-compassion levels significantly. According to the model, while incompatible perfectionism and gender (being a woman) negatively predicted self-compassion, it was determined that forgiveness, compatible perfectionism and age significantly predicted self-compassion. The results of the research were discussed in relation to the related literature and suggestions were presented.
