Abstract (EN)

At present, some handicrafts have lost their functions due to the developing technology. Being produced less and in a narrow field cosidering the difficulties in finding old samples handicrafts have become one of our national cultural values that are to be conserved primarily. Museums have a great importance of protecting these valuable samples. The samples in museums are important sources in every study to prevent them from extinction and to revive handicrafts. For these reasons it?s our museums resposibility to keep these samples same as they were once which have been able to survive untill today, to slow down the damage and to make them live longer.Collecting the ethnographic works, which were produced by depending on traditions and reflect a country?s cultural values, in a systematic way and restoring by coserving them according to their specialities can only be realized by the experts? dedicated efforts. The academic studies in museums to have knowledge of these works not only help us to see various cultural possessions but also they help the following studies.In this survey named ?The Cataloguing of The Traditional Textiles in Bergama Archaeological Museum? in the first part we introduce the town of Bergama, the history of Bergama Archaeological Museum, Ethnograpy Section and the traditional textiles that are exhibited. In the second part, 94 textile samples and 2 piece looms which were gathered up between 1953-1976 are exemined and catalogued. Also in this part the works are introduced by gathering the information that are obtained by the inventory records of the museum, specialities of the models that are composed by us and the ornamation technics together.
