Abstract (EN)

Turkey is located in a geography where natural disasters have frequently occurred for thousands of years. Each earthquake left deep scars on our society and served as a serious warning for the safety of our people. After these tragic events, "Earthquakes do not kill, buildings do." The phrase has almost become an advice and efforts have been made in the construction industry to build more solid and durable buildings. Although we have a more comprehensive understanding of structures thanks to the advancement of technology and increased academic research, the earthquakes experienced in Kahramanmaras on February 6, 2023 have shown how vulnerable we still are. In today's world, there are deep divides regarding waffle slab flooring. While some advocate for their prohibition, especially in earthquake-prone areas, the prevailing view is tha t with appropriate measures in place, there would be no harm. Hence, we see that waffle slab flooring is not prohibited in the 2018 Turkish Building Earthquake Regulation. This study aims to thoroughly examine the effects of different flooring types on the performance of structures. Without altering the vertical load-bearing system of an existing structure, it will be modeled with different flooring types and then analyzed using the singlemode non-linear pushover method. Considering factors such as the mass and in-plane rigidity of the structure, the goal is to identify suitable flooring type for our country's needs. For models that do not meet performance targets, a strengthening project will be prepared. Keywords: Performance Analysis, Reinforced Concrete Structures, Reinforced Concrete Floor Types
