The impact of BigTechs on financial markets

The modern age, which was started with the industrial revolution in 1789, is silently leaving its place to the digital age. Nowadays, with artificial intelligence technologies, technological developments in almost all sectors, from agriculture to health, from transportation to urbanization, are rapidly becoming widespread as they increase productivity and facilitate human life. Especially in 2019, technology, which is the sector that can respond most agilely to the global epidemic, and the big technology companies that lead this sector, have managed to radically affect people's lifestyle choices on a global scale and have been adopted by huge crowds in many areas from shopping to working life. In this thesis, the relationship between technology and the banking and finance sector with the banking and finance sector, which is another traditional sector challenged by technology, was examined. Moreover, technological breakthroughs in the finance sector were compared with the financial breakthroughs that took place especially in big technology companies. This study was carried out in order to present the advantages and disadvantages of technological developments and technology companies against traditional banking and to foresee approximately the points that these two dominant sectors can reach in the coming years. In the study, the financial breakthroughs of big technology companies with national and international recognition were evaluated, and the potential of these breakthroughs to be an alternative to the financial solutions monopolized by the traditional banking sector was examined. With these evaluations, it is aimed to examine the evolution of financial habits in the current period and to predict the impact of this evolution on the technology and finance sectors and the potential consequences that can happen in the coming period.
