Life and political activities of Bilecik Deputy Dr. Fikret (Onuralp) Bey (1887-1946)

Born in Istanbul in 1880, Dr. Fikret Bey was educated in the same city and became a doctor. During the collapse of the Ottoman Empire, he served as a doctor in various places and in the Tripoli War. After the defeat of the Ottoman Empire in the First World War and the occupation of Anatolia, he joined the National Struggle Movement led by Mustafa Kemal Pasha. A new phase in his life started with his going to Ankara, Dr. Fikret Bey was elected as Kozan deputy and served in Kastamonu Independence Court. Serving as Bilecik deputy in the 2nd and 3rd terms, Dr. Fikret Bey was in the close circle of Mustafa Kemal Pasha. His political life came to an end after his name was involved in the Yavuz-Havuz Case, the first corruption case in the history of our Republic, and he was found guilty. After completing his sentence, Dr. After returning home, Fikret Bey served as the chief physician at Istanbul Beyoğlu Hospital. Dr., who did not completely break away from politics in his civilian life. Fikret Bey had various initiatives through his wife. Having dealt a blow to one of the important events of the early republican period, Dr. Fikret Bey died in 1946 in Istanbul and was buried in Feriköy Cemetery.
