Abstract (EN)

The primary purpose of this current study is to develop the Eudaimonic Self-Regulation Scale, which measures the regulation of emotions, cognitions, behaviors and interpersonal relationships in order to reach the eudaimonia explained by ancient Greek philosopher Aristotle. Another aim is to examine the mediating roles of personal growth initiative and eudaimonic self-regulation in the relationship between mindfulness and self-efficacy with psychological well-being. Eudaimonic Self-Regulation Scale, Flourishing Scale, Mindful Attention and Awareness Scale, Personal Growth Initiative Scale, and the General Self-Efficacy Scale were used as measurement instruments. Participants of the study consisted of 1042 adults between the ages of 18 and 65, including 4 different sample groups. As a result of Exploratory Factor Analysis (EFA) of Eudaimonic Self Regulation Scale, a 10-factor structure model with 43 items, which explained % 57.93 of the total variance was obtained. According to the Confirmatory Factor Analysis (CFA) results, the factor loadings ranged from .48 to .88. In addition, model fit indices were satisfactory (χ2=2395.39; df=815, χ2/df=2.93, RMSEA=0.054, CFI=0.97, IFI=0.97, SRMR=0.050). Cronbach's α values of sub-scales ranged from .75 to .89. In terms of convergent validity, eudaimonic self-regulation indicated significant correlations with psychological well-being, mindfulness, self-efficacy, and personal growth initiative. According to the results of test-retest reliability analysis, the intraclass correlation coefficients ranged from .82 to .94, Pearson's correlation coefficients were between .71 and .88. These results indicated that this scale was a valid and reliable instrument to assess eudaimonic self-regulation in the relevant researches. As a result of testing the structural model of the study, it was found that the personal growth initiative has a full mediation role in the relationship between self-efficacy and eudaimonic self-regulation. Besides, personal growth initiative and eudaimonic self-regulation have full mediation roles in the relationship between self-efficacy and psychological well-being. Moreover, in the relationship between mindfulness and eudaimonic self-regulation, the personal growth initiative has a partial mediation role. In the relationship between mindfulness and psychological well-being, personal growth initiative and eudaimonic self-regulation have partially mediation roles. Furthermore, in the relationship between the personal growth initiative and psychological well-being, eudaimonic self-regulation has partially mediation role. Structural model fit indices were satisfactory (χ2=638.40; N=657, sd=162, χ2/df=3.94, p=0.000, RMSEA=0.067, GFI=0.91, CFI=0.97, IFI=0.97, SRMR=0.047). It is thought that the definition of these mediating relationships, which are new for the literature, is important for the fields of positive psychology and clinical psychology. All these findings are evaluated in the discussion section in light of the related literature.
