Abstract (EN)

Bilirubin is a bile pigment and it is generated by hemoglobin katabolism in old erythrocytes for mammals. The fuction of bilirubin in human body believed as an antioksidan. Billirubin is also accumilated in brain tissues and it is toxic. In order to treat hyperbilirubinemia patients, who has high bilirubin levels, extracorporeal bilirubin removal columns applied . Measurement of bilirubin level is important for diagnosis and theraphy. Measurement of bilirubin levels are made by skin test devices, nonchemical photometric devices and laboratory analyzers . The aim of this study is to design and implement of a new bilirubin biosensor using quartz crystal microbalances. For biosensor production, ın the first phase; we use cross-linking and covalent binding immobilization methods on the quartz crystal using to make immobilized albumin. By Van der Walls reaction, over surface of the albumin on the crystal is connected with bilirubin. The amount of bilirubin anchored on quartz crystal is calculated by using frequency changes. In this study new bilirubin biosensor is designed and constructed. As a result a low cost and sensitive bilirubin measurement device is implemented.
