A meta-analysis study on post occupancy evaluation of buildings

Determining the positive and negative aspects of the built environment is important in terms of the feedforward it will provide to the structures to be produced in the future and the feedback will provide to the existing structures. Many assessment models have been developed based on this idea. While many of these models focus on the evaluation of the current performance of buildings, the ''POE'' model is based on the evaluation of both the building users and their needs and the level of the buildings fulfilling the expected performance. The thesis study aimed to provide systematic knowledge to architects or designers who want to benefit from the results of research using the POE method and to guide researchers about new research areas. For this purpose, a search was made for academic studies that have the concepts of ''KSD'' (Kullanım Sonrası Değerlendirme) or ''POE'' in their keywords, and that was made between the years of ''2010-2020''. ''Science Direct, Emerald Insight, Springer, Taylor and Francis, Bursa Uludağ University Network, Turkish National Academic Network and Information Center Council of Higher Education National Thesis Center, and ProQuest'' databases were used to scan the publications. A total of 370 publications were included in the study within the scope of the thesis. The meta-analysis method was preferred to analyze these large numbers of independent publications in a systematic way. The meta-analysis method is accepted in the academic environment as an effective method in terms of determining the gaps in the literature and giving an idea about new research areas by generalizing all these publications. As a result of the evaluation of 370 publications determined within the scope of the study, it has been observed that the interest in POE studies has increased over the years. In addition, it has been determined that the POE studies are mostly on residential and office buildings and the most discussed subject is user satisfaction. In addition to this, it has been seen that survey, observation, and interview techniques are used in most of the publications. In the light of the data obtained as a result of the study, it was concluded that POE is a versatile method that can be applied for different purposes.
