Abstract (EN)

With the rapid increase in industrialization and the consume of fossil fuels after the 20th century, the climate crisis has reached very serious dimensions. Even if climate change cannot be completely prevented, reducing the use of fossil fuels and expanding the consume of renewable and more environmentally friendly energy sources may slow the progress of the climate crisis. The energy sources of automobiles are mainly fossil fuels and electricity. Fuel consumption values of vehicles, harmful gases emitted to the environment as a result of fuel combustion, economy, range of electric vehicles, customer expectations, etc. It is very important for many reasons. Fuel consumption of vehicles is directly related to vehicle aerodynamics. In this thesis, the aerodynamic analysis of a passenger car was carried out numerically. The design of the vehicle was made with the CATIA V5R21 computer aided design program based on the dimensions given by the manufacturer. The ANSYS program was used for geometric arrangements, meshing and numerical solution processes required for aerodynamic analysis. Realizable k-ε turbulence model is preferred for the solution of the flow field. The drag coefficient of the vehicle was found to be 0,313 with an error of less than 2,2%. In ANSYS FLUENT and CFD POST, velocity contours, pressure contours, streamlines and velocity vectors in various planes related to the air flow around the vehicle were examined. Various eddy generators have been designed to reduce the drag coefficient values associated with the fuel consumption of the vehicle. The vortex generators are located at 100 mm intervals 15 mm in front of the flow separation point at the rear of the ceiling. The maximum improvement in the drag coefficient was obtained by using the No. 4 vortex generator, which is 2,87%. The maximum improvement rate in the lift coefficient is approximately 3,6% and this value was reached using the No. 1 vortex generator.
