Abstract (EN)
This study examines Burhan Kum?s appraisals of the art of painting in Turkey and in the world and his views on his own identity as an artist as well as on the other artists in Turkish cultural milieu. In addition, the nature of sensitivity toward time that an artist as an individual experiences and confrontations of form and manner caused by a lack of theoretical knowledge have also been dealt with in the framework that Kum himself problematise. In the context of Kum?s critical views, the study discusses infrastructural problems of the plastic arts in Turkey. A particular emphasis is put on the concept of curator, for example, which is highly controversial in the milieu of art.Burhan Kum?s journey of art has been examined as a whole on the basis of his exhibitions and the problems he put forward in them.Keywords: Burhan Kum, Theory, painting, Curator, the milieu of Turkish Plastic Arts, dominant culture, identity of an artist, criticism?
