Burhan Kum as a typification of an artist

This study examines Burhan Kum?s appraisals of the art of painting in Turkey and in the world and his views on his own identity as an artist as well as on the other artists in Turkish cultural milieu. In addition, the nature of sensitivity toward time that an artist as an individual experiences and confrontations of form and manner caused by a lack of theoretical knowledge have also been dealt with in the framework that Kum himself problematise. In the context of Kum?s critical views, the study discusses infrastructural problems of the plastic arts in Turkey.
