The relationship between the object relations of individuals and defense stlye who used and the levels of empathy felt towards the survıvor and assailant in case of rape

The aim of this research is to examine the relationship between the object relationships of individuals and the forms of defense they use and the levels of empathy for the survivor dec the aggressor in the case of rape. In this research, the relational screening model was used and the sampling method was easily used during the collection of the data. A total of 307 participants made up the research sample. 201 of the participants were female and 106 were male. The ages of the participants ranged dec 18 to 65. Participation in the study is voluntary, but there are no exclusion criteria. Informed Consent Form, Demographic Information Form, Bell Object Relations and Case Evaluation Scale, Defense Forms Test and Rape Empathy Scale were applied to the individuals participating in the study. In the analysis of the data, IBM SPSS 24 program was used and independent sample t-test, one-way Anova and Pearson correlation analysis were used. As a result of the research, it was determined that the Bell Object Relations and Case Evaluation Scale's sub-dimensions and the Defense Forms Test have a significant relationship with the sub-dimensions of immature, neurotic and mature defense forms. A positive and weak level relationship was determined between the subdivision of object relations and the victim form, a positive and weak level relationship was determined between dec deconstructing perceptions of truth assessment and the victim form. When the aggressive form was examined, weak positive and significant relationships were found in the subdimensions of alienation, insecure attachment, self-centeredness sub-dimensions and distortions in the evaluation of reality, ambiguity of perceptions and hallucinations. When the effects of demographic characteristics are examined, it is seen that there is iv no difference in object relations-reality evaluation and defense styles according to gender. In empathy with rape, it was found that female participants had higher levels of empathy with those who had a rape experience than male participants. It is seen that male participants got high scores in empathy level with the aggressor. It is seen that there is a difference in the sub-dimensions of object relations-reality assessment according to the age variable. While it was found that only mature defenses differed according to age, there was also a difference in rape empathy level. It is seen that there are differences in the forms of object relations-evaluation of reality and defense according to education level. According to marital status, it was observed that divorced people use neurotic defenses more and differ in rape empathy level. According to the results of the regression analysis, it was found that the level of empathy with the rapist increased as the use of mature defenses increased. It was found that as the use of immature defenses increased, the level of empathy with the aggressor increased. The data obtained as a result of the research and the results of the demographic variables discussed in the study are described in the findings section. The findings were discussed in detail in the discussion section with the support of the literature and recommendations were included in the last part of the study.
